Margot Conover has worked in sustainable development since 2010, when she began two years in Ecuador working with fair trade and organic sugarcane, cocoa, coffee, and citrus cooperatives. Currently, Margot is the External Relations Manager at Fairtrade America, the US office of the Fairtrade certification. At Fairtrade, Margot works to empower consumers and businesses to make supply chains fair and safe for farmers and workers in the Global South. She represents Fairtrade to government, industry, and civil society associations. Prior to joining Fairtrade, Margot worked on business development for Population Services International, a leading global public health NGO. Margot received her MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and her BA in Political Science from Christopher Newport University, and currently lives in Washington, DC where she manages a community permaculture orchard in her spare time.
